I’m a geek, like Chris, but my wife isn’t and its good to see how Desire/Android experience is for a non-geek.
I’d imagine you are more switched on then most but respect you are trying to figure it out without emergency geek support!
Looking forward to reading more, will start following.]]>
I haven’t noticed the issue with force closes.. in fact I haven’t seen once on the Desire since I got it come to think of it. However, what you’re experiencing is, unfortunately, not uncommon in the Android world – Android apps do tend to crash every now and again, and HTC’s apps are no exception – in fact some are comparitively unstable.
Have to agree with editing text – the cursor control using the optical trackball thinger is woeful. I find it easier to press on the screen to move the cursor around, but even that is an imperfect art. If you were closer by, I’d show you the N1 which has a proper physical trackball so you could compare for yourself – the trackball is far superior than the optical tracker.
The battery life is just sad.. I’m noticing the same thing (lost 40% battery in just over an hour’s use this morning) and for a phone that costs more than most phones do, that’s not a good thing at all.
I like being called a geek, but I will ensure that I don’t generalise to include you in that label, and I apologise profusely if I’ve already done so!
