Adventures with my Desire
Is this normal and if so, why?
I’ve been getting this message a lot: “The process com.htc.bg has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.” A button appears that says, “Force close.”
To me, this seems to be a problem. Is this a precursor to the blue screen of death?
This is not a rhetorical question.
I haven’t seen that error before on mine.
Are you using live wallpapers? (stab in the dark from the “bg” bit)
Nope, not a live wallpaper. I’m using the rainbow-coloured one. It seems to happen more when I’m using an app or checking my email.
No, it’s not normal.
It’s a sign of buggy software, and/or unstable hardware.
The particular software that’s crashing is something from HTC.
Searching for that error message on the Googletrons gives a thread talking about it, and then a reference to it being about Facebook.
Potential fix:
“We have found the fix! go to the PEOPLE(contact list) app. Go to the Online Directories (globe) tab. Hit Facebook. You will be asked to log in to your Facebook account. Once logged in, it will show all of you contacts on your Facebook account. Go back to the full list of your contacts on the phone and try and sync.”
It doesn’t prompt me to log in. It also says I don’t have any friends.
Now apart from the LOLs there, I really don’t want to sync my facebook friends contacts on my phone.
I’m totally confused.
If this helps, when I press the home button after getting that message, the whole system appears to be rebooting. Doesn’t really instill me with a lot of confidence.
